Peggy Yeatts of Sycamore, VA passed away the morning of Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital after a long illness.
Peggy was born September 24, 1940 in Grit, VA to the late Noel and Vernice Atkinson. She graduated from Gretna High School in 1958 and Phillips Business College in 1959. Following a long career at the Lane Company in Altavista, VA, Peggy devoted herself to raising Angie, taking care of David and her aging mother, being a compassionate sister, aunt, and friend, and working as a cook at Hurt Elementary School. Cooking was a special passion of Peggy's and she enjoyed giving of herself by preparing meals for others. Each dish was garnished with a generous portion of her special love and all who ate knew that in Peggy's heart, they were special too.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, David Carson Yeatts, daughter Angie Yeatts of Motley, VA, a sister, Linda Atkinson of Forest, VA, brother R. Dwight Atkinson and his wife Beth, of Woodbridge, VA, three nieces, Robin Barbour of Lynchburg, VA, Cindy Powers of Forest, VA, and Virginia Atkinson of Arlington, VA, and one nephew, Jeremy Atkinson of Alexandria, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 9, 2012 at New Prospect Baptist Church by Rev. Jim Manuel. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence, 597 Dewberry Road, Gretna.
