Gretna…….Ruth Pauline Mason Myers Smith, age 84 of Gretna died Monday, October 10, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born June 29, 1932 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Ocie Lee Mason and Josephine Dudley Mason. She was twice married, first to the late Herman Myers and then to the late William Randol Smith, Sr. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Tom "Sam" Curtis Mason, George Mason and Jack Mason. Mrs. Smith was an active member of Round Pond Baptist Church and was a former employee of Craddock-Terry. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, canning, gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons, Ray Myers and wife, Reneé of Gretna and Carrol Myers and wife, Angie of Gretna; one step-son, William Randol Smith, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH; three step-daughters, Charlotte Headley and her husband, Mike of Valrico, FL, Gail Groff and her husband, Craig of Manassas and Sherry Smith of Clarksville, MD; one brother, Hubert Mason of Gretna; five grandchildren, Kim Dickey and husband, Kevin, Jennifer Mann and husband, Chris, Kaylyn McCluster and husband, Luke, Beth Myers and Kelsie Myers; six great-grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Round Pond Baptist Church by Ricky Hogan and Rev. Jason Andrews. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
