Obituary

Altavista………Patsy Kegley East, age 78, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Born May 9, 1935 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Tom Virgil Kegley and Pearl McDaniel Kegley. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil "Bunky" Kegley and Terrell "Biggie" Kegley; and one sister, Lupe K. Adams.
Patsy worked at Yeatts Transfer for 30 years. She was a long time member of New Prospect Baptist Church where she sang in the choir since age 17. Patsy served in many other capacities at the church including teaching in the Betty Mattox Sunday School Class, and was a faithful WMU member.
Family was very important to Patsy. Grandma Patsy loved to attend ballgames, ballet recitals and school activities. For anyone who was ever in her presence, you know her beautiful smile lit the room. Her bright smile and positive approach to life became her trademark. Patsy's home was a place of warmth where all felt welcomed. Patsy blessed all whose lives she touched. She would want us to continue her legacy of service to God and family. In the words of St. Paul, "Patsy fought a good fight; she kept the faith."
