Altavista…….Pastor Roosevelt Logwood, age 79 of 1526 Main Street, Altavista died Friday, November 16, 2012, at his residence.
Born December 24, 1932 in Campbell County, he was a son of the late George Buck Logwood and Mary Cox Logwood. Pastor Logwood was predeceased by his first wife, Annie Pearl Drummonds Logwood; a son, Carl Logwood; three brothers, Oscar Logwood, George Logwood and Jack Logwood; two sisters, Mildred Gengo and Joyce Logwood; and a step-son, Harry Clay. He was the founding member and Pastor of Independent Bible Believing Church, and was a retired logger. Pastor Logwood enjoyed his ministering to people, fishing, and card playing.
He is survived by his wife, Shelby Jean Witt Logwood of the residence; two sons, Rudy Logwood of Gretna and Cecil Logwood of Hurt; two daughters, Dianne Byers of Madison Heights, and Carolyn Andrusky and husband, Alan of Evington; three brothers, Calvin Logwood of Lynch Station, Charlie Logwood of Southern Pines, NC, and Sam Logwood of Bedford; five sisters, Eva Hedrick of Altavista, Anna Newman of Altavista, Mary Nichols of Evington, Edna Elliott of Newport News, and Eunice Green of Leesville; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2012 at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Steven Parker.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
