Gretna…….Marcus Wayne Grinnell, Sr., age 78 of Gretna died Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born May 13, 1940 in Christiansburg, he was a son of the late Edward Killinger Grinnell and Retha Virginia Frye Grinnell. He was predeceased by a daughter, Dawn G. Brain; one brother, Randolph Grinnell; and one sister, Daphelyn Windley. Mr. Grinnell retired from Norfolk & Western Railroad; following retirement he served many years as minister at Liberty Christian Church. He enjoyed golfing, yardwork and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Smith Grinnell of the residence; one son, Marcus Grinnell, Jr. and wife, Carol of Roanoke; one brother, Terry Grinnell and wife, Sara of Virginia Beach; two brothers-in-law, David Smith and wife, Nellie of Sevierville, TN and L.L. Smith, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Kimberly Miller, Daniel Brain and Dylan Gaberielle Brain; three great-grandchildren, Brooke, M.J. and Destinee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Gretna Christian Church by Lee Ashley, Minister.
