Gretna……Oma Lee Shelton, age 85 of Gretna, died Friday, July 27, 2018 at his residence.
Born July 8, 1933 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late William Reeves Shelton and Margaret Hamlett Shelton. He was also predeceased by his wife, Mary Taylor Shelton; one son, Roger Shelton; one grandson, Ronnie Taylor, Jr.; and two brothers, William Anderson "Andy" Shelton and Claude Grayson "C.G." Shelton. Mr. Shelton was a member of Midway Baptist Church and an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a carpenter; and enjoyed fishing, wrestling, NASCAR, rabbit and coon hunting and spending time with his family.
He is survived by one son, David Shelton and wife, Dawn of Gretna; one daughter Ann Taylor and husband, Ronnie of Gretna; one step-son, Michael Taylor and wife, Linda of Hurt; three step-daughters, Kathy Mullins of Gretna, Patsy Saunders of Chatham and Jo Ann Farmer of Gretna; two sisters, Lucy Matherly and husband, Guy of Hurt and Agnes East and husband, John of Hurt; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Lynn Marstin. Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
