Gretna…….Ollie Willie Rowland Meadows, age 86 of Gretna died Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born November 7, 1928 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Lester Rowland and Minnie Ora Compton Rowland. She was predeceased by her husband, Alton Roller Meadows; three brothers, Gilmore Rowland, Calvin Rowland and Bill Rowland; and two sisters, Ora Petty and Elsie Adams. Mrs. Meadows was a member of Church of God of Prophecy Java where she served as Sunday school teacher for many years and was a former cook at Pope's Store. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and canning.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Rawlings and her husband, Junior of Gretna and Judy Barksdale of Gretna; two sisters, Pauline Worley of Kernersville, NC, and Beulah Crider of Richmond; three grandchildren, Monica Colbert and husband, Eric, Ashley Pierce and husband, John, and Andrew Rawlings; and three great-grandchildren, Alex Colbert, Mitchell Colbert and Emma Pierce.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Church of God of Prophecy Java by Rev. Edward Pope. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Junior Rawlings, 2145 Galveston Road, Gretna.
