Hurt……….Oliver (Bea) Burton Hutcherson, age 88 of 807 Country Club Road, Hurt died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born May 12, 1923 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Alex B. Hutcherson and Lizzie Davis Hutcherson. Mr. Hutcherson was predeceased by a sister, Helen Farries; and three brothers, Hugh Hutcherson, Odell Hutcherson, and Eldridge Hutcherson. He was member and taught the men's Sunday School Class of Hurt United Methodist Church. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II where he was a propeller specialist. Mr. Hutcherson was a retired supervisor with Burlington Industries, and a graduate of Phillips Business College. He enjoyed gardening, working with tools, and piddling in his work shop. He loved spending time with his family, especially his sweetheart, Laura.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Laura Dowdy Hutcherson of the residence; one son, William "Bill" Hutcherson of Lynchburg; two daughters, Evelyn Hall of Madison Heights and her friend, Bill Bensiek of Lynchburg, and Charlotte Lane and husband, Alan of Altavista; two brothers, J.C. Hutcherson of Gretna, and Jackie Hutcherson of Lynchburg; one sister, Gloria Piercy of Rochelle; three grandchildren, Craig Lane and wife, Teri of Winston-Salem, NC, Ryan Lane and wife, Kim of Forest, and Kevin Lane and wife, Lindsay of St. Matthews, Cayman Islands; four great-grandchildren, Davis Lane, Andrew Lane, Connor Lane, and Audrey Lane.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Green Lawn Cemetery by Pastor Bonnie Pizzeck.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
