Frances "Olene" Mayhew Brown, age 90 of Liberty Ridge in Lynchburg passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Runk and Pratt Liberty Ridge in Lynchburg.

Olene lived in Pittsylvania County her whole life before moving to Liberty Ridge.  She and her late husband, Joseph Calvin Brown, who she was married to for seventy-two years lived on Spencer Road, Hurt, Virginia for over sixty years.

Olene was born September 24, 1933 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late William Coleman "W.C." Mayhew, Sr. and Laura Florence Shelton Mayhew.   In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Ann Brown; and four brothers, Melvin Mayhew (Hilma), Gene Mayhew (Merle), W.C. Mayhew, Jr. (Tippy) and Roy Mayhew (Peggy).

She was an active member of Midway Baptist Church.  Olene loved flowers, sewing, and watching many sport activities, especially basketball.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024 at Gretna Burial Park by Rev. Lynn Marstin.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Midway Baptist Church, 2136 Midway Road, Gretna, VA 24557.
