Hurt……Norris Clifton "Pete" Covington, Jr., age 88 of Hurt died Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at his residence.

Born July 19, 1935 in Prince Edward County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Norris Clifton Covington, Sr. and Sadie Jordan Covington.  Mr. Covington was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Babcock and Wilcox after 36 years of service.  He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, and his motto was, "do it right the first time."

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Roberts Covington of the residence; two sons, Mark Covington and wife, Teresa of Hurt and Gary Covington and wife, Kristi Meacham of Alexandria; one daughter, Sheerie Ayres and husband, Joe of Goochland;  three brothers, Aaron Covington of Lynchburg, Judson Covington of Lynchburg and Tommy Covington and wife, Elaine of Richmond; one sister, Bonnie Bohannon and husband, James of Appomattox; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Gretna Branch by Mr. Tommy Covington.  Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Gretna Branch.
