Evington………Julia "Nicole" Sloan, age 49 of Evington died Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born September 9, 1975 in Roanoke, she was a daughter of Cecil "Jake" Gibson of Pittsville. She was predeceased by her mother, Virgie Mae Thompson Church; her maternal grandmother, Mary "Granny" Thompson; and her paternal mother, Janice Gibson.

Nicole was known for her generosity and, along with her husband Stephen, fostered dozens of children - each child touching their lives just as much as she hoped the children were touched. Nicole loved baking, going on cruises, and above all else, spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She never met a stranger and would have deep conversations with people she had never met. Nicole cared so deeply for so many of the people around her and was involved in various ministries over the course of her life. She strove to show God's love to everyone reflected in her own actions.

She was a loving wife of 31 years to her husband, Stephen Sloan; a devoted mother to her children, Hannah Sloan and fiancé, Evan Blair, Cory Nichols, Courtney Sloan and husband, Steven Delp, Starr Sloan, Nathan Sloan and wife, Kristin, Alyssa Boyes and husband, Eli, Josh Sloan, Rosie Sloan, Sasha Sloan & wife, Mallory, Darlene Sloan, Alivia Sloan and Alex Sloan; two brothers, Matt Gibson and wife, Brooke and Wade Howell; two sisters, Misty Lumpkin and husband, Stephen and Brandy Rowland and husband, Jason; 11 grandchildren and she was "the best granny ever" to her grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Ronnie Simpson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
