Gretna…..Nera Willis Shields, age 84 of 708 Leftwich Street, Gretna died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born June 24, 1927 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Wyatt Berkley Willis and Audrey Lovelace Willis. She was predeceased by two brothers, Lloyd Willis, and Jack Crider; and two sisters, Cecile Midkiff and Mabel Mayhew. Mrs. Shields was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna. She was a former employee of Piedmont Manufactoring and a home maker. Mrs. Shields enjoyed flowers, her lipstick, and being with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Ervin A. Shields of the residence; one daughter, Cindy Hackworth and her husband, Darrell of Madison Heights; one sister, Iris Shelton of Richmond; two grandchildren, Corinne Audrey Barrington and her husband, Joseph of Burleson, TX, and Catrinna Daire Evelyn Hackworth of Madison Heights; and one great-grandchild, Isaac James Barrington.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Friday, December 2, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
