Gretna……Nelson Washington Simpson, age 76 of Hurt died Monday, March 24, 2025 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born November 15, 1948 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Glady Lee Simpson and Bessie Faris Simpson.  He was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Simpson.  Mr. Simpson was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran and a member of Midway Baptist Church.  He was a member of the Brushy Mountain Club; and he enjoyed nature, fishing and working and talking on CB radios.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Wood Simpson of the residence; a sister, Janice Brown and husband, Jimmy of Hurt; a sister-in-law, Judy Simpson of Hurt; a niece, Kelly Osborne and husband, Scott; and three nephews, Grant Simpson and fiancée, Courtney, Patrick Brown and wife, Shelley and Justin Brown and wife, Crystal.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden by Rev. Lynn Marstin.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
