Gretna……….Nellie Barker Pickral, age 86 of Gretna passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born November 19, 1938 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Berkley Dewey Barker and Emma Howell Barker.  She was predeceased by a son, Glen Allen Pickral; two daughters, Martha Jane Pickral and Cynthia Melton; two brothers, Curtis Barker and Robert Barker; and seven sisters, Virginia Brumfield, Juanita Franklin, Betty Hines, Hilda Wilson, Martha Doss, Trula Clark and Frances Barker. Mrs. Pickral was a member of Springfield Primitive Baptist Church and she retired from Pannill Knitting. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and most importantly she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Oscar Donald Pickral of the residence; one daughter, Connie Adkins and husband, Johnny of Gretna; two sisters, Elaine Clark of Martinsville and Carolyn Goad and husband, Ralph of Gretna; a son-in-law, J.W. Melton; and 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Elder Raymond Goad. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
