Gretna…..Nellie Angel Dalton, age 93 of Gretna died Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born March 7, 1923 in Campbell County she was a daughter of the late Alonza Angel and Effie Wright Angel. She was predeceased by her husband, Eldridge Levi Dalton, Sr.; a son, Eldridge Levi Dalton, Jr.; an infant daughter, Linda Lou Dalton; twin brothers, James Angel and John Angel as well as five other brothers, Joe Angel, Conway Angel, Claude Angel, Paul Angel and Ralph Angel; and three sisters, Janie Booker, Irene Kersey and Sterling Hunter. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna. Mrs. Dalton was a former dispatcher for the town of Gretna as well as a former cafeteria worker at Gretna Elementary School. She was known as the "Cupcake Lady" on WMNA radio station. She enjoyed going to yard sales and traveling around.
She is survived by one son, Ray Dalton and his friend, Barbara of Gretna; three daughters, Elva Mattox & husband Dude of Keysville, Betty Brumfield and husband, David of Gretna and Darlene French and husband, Bill of Gretna; a daughter-in-law, Marsha Dalton of Gretna; five grandchildren, Ray Dalton, Jr. of Altavista, Ashley Brumfield of Gretna, Tiffany Christopher and husband Brooks of Martinsville, Cody Brumfield of Gretna and Macy Brumfield of Gretna and three great-grandchildren, Raychelle Dalton of Altavista, Ethan Christopher of Martinsville and Izabella Brumfield of Gretna.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Gretna Burial Park by Rev. R.G. Rowland.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the SPCA of Pittsylvania County.
