Gretna……….Nat Nathan Brooks, age 83 of Gretna died Saturday, April 11, 2015 at his residence.
Born June 24, 1931 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Charlie Dave Brooks and Mattie Keatts Brooks. He was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters, Thomas Brooks, James Brooks, Alice Brooks, Dolley Brooks, Virginia Wilson and Catherine Thompson. He was a member of Altavista Church of Christ and attended Sycamore Baptist Church. He was a former employee of Fellers Chevrolet and the Lane Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and gardening.
He is survived by two sons, David Nathan Brooks of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Kevin Wade Brooks and wife Aneley of Winterhaven, FL; one brother, Marion Brooks of Gretna; one sister, Florence Lee Brooks of Hurt; two grandchildren, Dustin Brooks and Kristen Brooks; his former wife, Ann P. Brooks and companions, Joan Short and April Short and her companion, Shannon Levesque and their child, Aden Levesque-Short.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Gary Phillips and Pastor Ava Mitchell. Burial will follow in Altavista Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of Joan Short, 122 Coffey Street, Gretna.
