Nannie Shelton Shields

Pittsville…..Nannie Shelton Shields, age 89 of 5472 Pittsville Road, Pittsville, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at her residence.
Born October 18, 1921 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Ewell W. Shelton, Sr. and Mary Huffman Shelton She was predeceased by four brothers, Harold Shelton, Haile Shelton, Ewell Shelton, Jr. and Ramsey Shelton; two sisters, Mary Vosburg and Ora Mann. She was a devoted member of Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a home maker. Mrs. Shields was an Avon representative for over forty years.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Onyx Shields of the residence; two sons, Billy Shields and wife, Donna of Gretna and Bobby Shields and wife, Leigh Ann of Keeling; one daughter, Donna Adkins of Pittsville; one brother, Carlton (Collie) Shelton of Chatham; one sister, Virginia Lewis of Gretna; and four grandchildren, Kelly Bellis and husband, Dave, Matthew Shields, Lauren Shields and Hannah Shields.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church by Rev. Donnie Pickeral and Rev. Michael Allen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna, and other times will be at the residence.
