Gretna………Nannie Belle Moore Roach, age 90, of Gretna, VA, passed away on January 13, 2025. Born on August 19, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Vera Gibson Moore Rigney and Ike Moore.

Nannie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Bennett and her husband Kim Bennett of Concord, VA; son-in-law James McGhee, Sr. of Gretna, VA; and her cherished grandchildren, Dr. James McGhee, Jr. of Ashland, VA, Dr. Jason Robertson and his partner Dr. Brad Johnson of Greensboro, NC, and Nichole Francis and her husband Jason Francis of Brookneal, VA. Nannie was also a proud great-grandmother to Peighton, Gage, and Cullen Francis, all of Brookneal, VA.

Nannie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Cecil F. Roach, and two daughters, Carolyn A. Robertson and Cathy R. McGhee. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Edward Moore, David Moore, Chillie Moore, Isabelle Lumpkin, Edith Tucker, Ann Roach, Raleigh Moore, Richard Moore, and Clarence Moore.

A devout Christian, Nannie found great joy and strength in her faith. Her love for her church family at Summersett Baptist Church in Gretna was unwavering. Her passion for gardening and her talent in the kitchen were just a few of the many ways she showed her love for others. Above all, Nannie was known for her warm spirit, grace, and radiant smile, which brightened the lives of all who knew her. She brought joy to everyone with her cheerful disposition, and her family was her greatest treasure.

Nannie's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness, devotion, and love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Jason Andrews.  Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Gretna Medical Center Emergency Room for their love, care and compassion.
