Gretna………Nancy Ellen Rowland, age 88 of Gretna died Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Autumn Care of Altavista.

Born January 25, 1934 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Walter W. Rowland and Eva Hutcherson Rowland. She was predeceased by her husband, James Claiborne Rowland; one brother, Carl "Joe" Rowland; and two sisters, Mildred Francis and Joyce Gammon. Mrs. Rowland was a member of Midway Baptist Church, was a home maker and she enjoyed farming.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty R. Grohs and husband, Buddy of Gretna, Ellen R. Wade and husband, Tony of Altavista and Ann R. Jones and husband, Terry of Gretna; two grandchildren, Nicole Akers and husband, Tim and Daniel Wade and Lauren Krantz; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Hunter and Maci; and a sister-in-law, Shelby Buffington of Gretna.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2022 at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Lynn Marstin. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2022 in the Midway Baptist Church Fellowship Hall and other times will be at the residence.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to God's Pit Crew, 2499 North Main St. Danville, VA 24540.
