Chatham…..Nancy Jean Taylor Guthrie, age 76 of Chatham died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Runk & Pratt at Liberty Ridge in Lynchburg.
Born February 5, 1939 in Chatham she was a daughter of the late Marion Linwood Taylor and Anne Katherine Lewis Taylor. She was predeceased by a son, Carl Michael Guthrie; a grandson, Alan Guthrie; and a brother, Harold Taylor. She was a member of Sheva Church of Christ and was a long time employee of Abbott Laboratories. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, quilting, traveling, taking care of her wild birds and decorating for Christmas.
She is survived by one son, Andrew Guthrie, Jr. and his wife, Judy of Lynchburg; two daughters, Barbara Guthrie Clay and her husband, Jerry of Chatham and June Guthrie Haley of Hurt; one brother, Marion Taylor, Jr. and his wife, Sylvia of Gretna; five sisters, Geraldine Dolan of Newport News, Marie Chatman of Burlington, NC, Betty Kidd and her husband, Roy of Newport News, Faye Osborne of Chatham and Linda Taylor of Forest; nine very special grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Andy Guthrie, Jennifer Bradley, Travis Guthrie, Jessie Guthrie, Elizabeth Manor, Thomas Clay, Eric Clay, Christopher S. Haley, and Jasmine R. Jamerson; 15 great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Fran Lawhorne and Jewel Cope.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Sheva Church of Christ Cemetery by Larry Owen, Minister.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jerry Clay, 1304 Burton Lake Road, Chatham.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer Research Foundation.
