Altavista……Myrtle Louise Harmon, age 83 of Altavista died Saturday, November 18, 2017 at her residence.
Born January 18, 1934 in Bluefield, WV, she was a daughter of the late Solomon Grant Harmon and Minnie Phillips Harmon. She was predeceased by two brothers, Curtis Harmon and Marvin "Red" Harmon and two sisters, Beatrice "Beady
Harmon and Geneva Dalton. Mrs. Harmon was a member at St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a former employee at Piedmont Manufacturing. She enjoyed going to church, doing yardwork, watching sports and spending time with her family.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Vickie Harmon; three nieces, Samantha Castro and husband, Mike, Gloria Tucker and husband, Raymond, and Becky Harmon; three nephews, Mike Dalton, Mark Harmon and wife, Brooke, and Jarrod Harmon; five great-nieces, Raven Tucker, Kaitlin Castro, Sarah Castro, Lillian Castro and Lexy Harmon; three great-nephews, Wesley Harmon, Dylan Plymale and Jayden Harmon; one great-great-niece, Chloe; her good friends, Mae Nichols and Ruth Burns; and special neighbors, Nelson Shelton and Jackie Shelton.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery by Vickie Harmon and Pastor Tim Lane.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
