Altavista……….Myrtle Pugh Bennett, age 83 of Altavista died Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born September 5, 1938 in Campbell County, she was a daughter of the late Frank Cosby Pugh and Irene Childress Pugh.  She was predeceased by her husband, Randy E. Bennett; one brother, William F. Pugh; one granddaughter, Ashley T. Fitzgerald; and an infant daughter.  Mrs. Bennett was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and she retired from Abbott Laboratories.  She enjoyed attending church and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Becky B. Cox and husband, Dennis of Altavista, and Deborah B. Wydner and husband, Billy of Brookneal; three grandchildren, Stephanie T. Taylor, Dustin R. Cox, and Taylor A. Cox; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylee B. Fitzgerald and Andy M. Taylor.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Matt Gaston and Lewis Wydner.  Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
