Gretna…..John Morris Hedrick, age 77 of Gretna died Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born April 27, 1938 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late John Gilmer Hedrick and Henretta Pearson Hedrick. He was predeceased by a grandson, Justin Hedrick, a sister, Doris Mitchell and a brother, Leslie Hedrick. Morris was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna and the Friendship Sunday School Class. He was a retired employee of Abbott Laboratories and he enjoyed hunting, bird dogs, horses and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Worley Hedrick of the residence; one son, Bobby Hedrick of Gretna; two step-sons, Gary Dalton and wife, Terry of Atlanta and Jeff Dalton and wife, Beverly of Kingsport, TN; one sister, Jewel Cooke and husband, C.D. of Chatham; three grandchildren, Nicole, Grayson and Sarah.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Rev. Jonathan Hilliard. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
