Gretna………Floyd Morgan Rowland, age 88 of Gretna died Monday, October 16, 2023 at his residence.

Born October 24, 1934 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Floyd Rowland and Fannie Short Rowland. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Jean Dawson Rowland; a son, James Morgan Rowland; and two sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Theta Betterton. Mr. Rowland was a member of Midway Baptist Church and in the latter years attended Gretna Christian Church. Morgan worked at the Lane Company for 45 years. He enjoyed farming, riding the combine, NASCAR and he loved his cat, "Boots."

He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Gail Sherwood and husband, Harry of Gretna; and one grandson, David Vaughan & special friend, Jackie Vernon of Gretna.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Lee Ashley, Minister and Rev. Lynn Marstin. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
