Gretna……..Milton Allen Yates, age 84 of Gretna died Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Danville Regional Hospital.

Born August 19, 1935 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Eddie Iverson Yates, Sr. and Ludie Saunders Yates.  He was predeceased by three brothers, Melvin, Charlie, and Eddie Yates; and two sisters, Joan Yates Short, and Mildred Hunt.  Mr. Yates was a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Rigney Yates of the residence; two sons, Garry Yates and wife, Annette of Dry Fork, and Thomas Yates and wife, Angie of Dry Fork; three daughters, Brenda Rich and husband, Wade of Danville, Linda Hines and husband, Eddie Weatherford of Dry Fork, and Teresa Lee and husband, Ricky of Blairs; 10 grandchildren, and  18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Harold Thornton.

The family will reconvene at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Danville Memorial Gardens for burial.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
