Gretna…….Mildred Meadows Shelton, age 91 of 896 Upper Mountain Road, Gretna died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Gretna Health & Rehab Center.
Born June 12, 1922 in the Markham community of Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late James Davis Meadows and Myrtle Hankley Meadows. She was predeceased by her husband, H. Deane Shelton and two brothers, James Hylton Meadows and Albert (Pie) Meadows. Mildred was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed her Kitty Cat, Dakota, watching game shows on TV, find a word puzzle books, country music and eating out and talking on the telephone with family and friends.
She is survived by a nephew, Tony Lee (Hook) Meadows; three nieces, Priscilla Gilley, Harriet Barker and Cindy Sue Jennings; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Zion United Methodist Church by Rev. Harold Thornton and Ramsey Taylor. Burial will follow in the Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
