Mildred Yvonne Hines Dalton, age 88, formerly of 2074 Paisley Rd., Gretna, VA, died Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Gretna Health & Rehab Center.  She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Glenwood Ira Dalton.

She was born on May 18, 1935, in Pittsylvania County, a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Hines and Carrie Saunders Hines. She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker most of her life. She worked as a substitute teacher with Pittsylvania County School System and was an employee of Universal Electric Company.

During her high school years at Renan High School, she played the position of guard on the Renan Girl's Basketball team. She was a wonderful cook, and among her specialties were her homemade fried chicken, coconut cakes, and banana pudding.  Mildred was known as one of the best dressed ladies of all time.  She took great pride in her appearance, and always looked like she had just stepped off the fashion runway.  She had a great passion for shopping, for clothes, shoes, and pocketbooks.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Dalton Bernard and husband Keith of Hurt and Vickie Dalton Moser and husband Ricky of Java; a son, Patrick Glen Dalton (Starr Moore) of Browns Summit, NC; four grandchildren, Jason Moser and wife Kristi; Lauren Gibson and husband Dwayne, Jeremy Moser and wife Desiré, and Jared Dalton; seven great-grandchildren, Abby, Logan, and Wyatt Gibson, Jadon and Jacob Moser, and Elizabeth and Haley Moser; a sister, Hilda Barker, and two sisters-in-law, Judy Dalton and Atha Bailey.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Hazel Rowland, Alma Byrd, Helen Parrott, Janie Gunn, and a grandson, Justin Robert Moser.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Bobby Brumfield.  Burial will follow in the Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Gretna.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at Glen and Mildred's former residence at 2074 Paisley Rd., Gretna.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Gretna Health & Rehab Center and dedicated caretaker, Lisa Edwards, for Mildred's excellent care.

She will be missed by her wonderful friend and roommate, Helen Towler.
