Chatham………Melvin Thomas Norcutt, age 77 of Chatham died Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Heritage Green Assisted Living and Memory Care in Lynchburg.

Born April 22, 1944 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late William "Bill" Thomas Norcutt and Cora Roach Norcutt.  He was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Ann Norcutt Marshall; and a son-in-law, Chris Phelps.  Mr. Norcutt was a former supervisor of maintenance for the Town of Gretna for 20 years; and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and working on the farm.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Runyon Norcutt of the residence; four daughters, Julie Copley and husband, Bryant of Altavista, Connie Pair and husband, Roger of Gladys, Libby Norcutt of Georgia, and Wendy Phelps of Gladys; two sons, William Alan Runyon and wife, Joy of Chatham, and Kelly James Runyon and wife, Leslie of Gretna; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden by Larry Owen, Minister.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden and other times will be at the residence.
