Gretna……….Megan Lawrenson Franklin, age 76 of 702 South Main Street, Gretna, the loving wife of Carl Franklin for 56 years went to be with her Lord and Savior early Sunday morning, June 5, 2011 at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg.
Born April 6, 1935 in Sparrows Point, MD, she was a daughter of the late Albert Lawrenson and Christabel Evans Lawrenson, both were born in England. Mrs. Franklin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna, a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, and a member of Highland Chapter #33 Order of the Eastern Star. She worked for Western Electric in Baltimore, MD from the age of 18 until her retirement. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin moved from Baltimore, MD to Essex, MD in 1966, and later moved to Gretna in 1992.
She is survived by her husband, Carl S. Franklin of the residence; one son, Robbie Franklin of Essex, MD; two brothers, Ray Lawrenson and his wife, Betty of Sparrows Point, MD, and Melvin Lawrenson and his wife Glenda of Westminster, MD; special family, Barbara and Ned Franklin, and nieces Terri McPaters, and Lisa Curtis; and a number of nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Rev. Jonathan Hilliard. Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden, Gretna.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Monday, June 6, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
