Maxine J. Bennett

GRETNA Maxine Jaques Bennett, 85, of Gretna, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Autumn Care Nursing & Rehab in Altavista.

Born July 29, 1924, in Hinton, Okla., she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. Jaques and Ola McCumber Jaques. Mrs. Bennett was predeceased by her husband, Shirley James Bennett; her son, Leigh J. Bennett; two sisters, Marjorie Treanor and Lola Bernice Nix. She was a member of Anderson Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a former employee of Lane Company, and was a home maker. Maxine enjoyed reading.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Betty B. Bennett, of Gretna; her granddaughter, Nicole Hedrick and husband, Shane, of Gretna; three great-grandchildren, Adam Burpo, Tyler Hedrick and Jaycee Hedrick.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Elder Joyce Wright. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter-in-law, Betty B. Bennett, 108 Hollyberry Drive, Gretna.
