Gretna…..Mary Taylor Shelton, age 80 of Gretna died Friday, August 28, 2015 surrounded by her family at her residence.
Born July 9, 1935 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Willie Taylor and Katherine Dowdy Taylor. She was predeceased by one son, Roger Shelton; one grandson, Ronnie Taylor, Jr.; one sister and four brothers. Mrs. Shelton was a member of Midway Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, family and friends. She also enjoyed reading her Bible, baking; and watching game shows and old westerns.
She is survived by her husband, Oma Shelton of the residence; two sons, Michael Taylor and his wife, Linda, and David Shelton and his wife, Dawn; five daughters, Kathy Mullins, Patsy Saunders, Ann Taylor and her husband, Ronnie, JoAnn Farmer and Shannon Pennington and her husband, Jeffrey; one brother, Franklin Taylor and his wife, Faye; one sister, Judy Lester and her husband, Al; a special nephew, Tommy McKinney; a special great-grandchild, Sasha Taylor; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and many special friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2015 at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Lynn Marstin and Pastor Tim Lane. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Relay for Life.
