Gretna……….Mary Farris Pugh, age 71 of Gretna died Friday, February 17, 2017 at her residence.
Born August 12, 1945 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Samuel David Farris, Sr. and Carrie Mae Irby Farris. She was predeceased by four brothers, Kenneth Wayne Farris, Sr., Calvin Farris, Donny Farris and Ryland Farris. Mrs. Pugh was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gretna Branch and was a home maker. She enjoyed working with flowers, cooking, spending time with her family; and she loved animals, especially birds.
She is survived by her husband, Grady C. Pugh of the residence; two daughters, Jody Pugh of Gretna and Jenny Thomas and husband, Scottie of Gretna; three brothers, Sam Farris, Jr. and wife, Frances, Ted Farris and wife, Judy, and Roy Farris; six sisters, Betty Dodds and husband, Lloyd, Carolyn Hall and husband, John, Lucy Smith and husband, James, Lois Wheeler and husband, Wayne, Peggy Harward and husband, Calvin and Judy Ball; five grandchildren, Malorie Taylor and husband, Tyler, Nathan Rowland, Bryson Pugh, Stephen Hart and Jared Thomas; two step-grandchildren, Joel Thomas and Russell Simpson; and two step-great-grandchildren, Addison Thomas and Natalie Thomas.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gretna Branch by President Raymond Elliott. Burial will follow in the Farris Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gretna Branch and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Scottie Thomas, 5157 Telegraph Road, Gretna.
