Gretna……….Mary Sue "Nannie" Keatts Irby, age 92 of Gretna died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Gretna Health & Rehab.
Born December 24, 1920 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Lewis Keatts and Fannie Lucy Crews Keatts. Mrs. Irby was predeceased by her husband, Clifton Irby; three sons, Edward Irby, Lewis Irby and Jessie Irby; five brothers, Woodrow Keatts, John Keatts, Clarence Keatts, William Keatts and Jimmy Keatts; and two sisters, Beulah Irby and Mollie Wray; and a son-in-law, Sherman Moses. Mrs. Irby was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church and attended Spring Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers, quilting, traveling, her companion, Duke and spending time with her family. Mrs. Irby was a home maker.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Irby and wife, Lois of Gretna; four daughters, Mabel Doss and husband, Bobby of Gretna, Annie Short and husband, Woody of Nathalie, Dora Brumfield and husband, Carroll of Stokesville, NC, and Mary Moses Hicks and husband, Harold of Gretna; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Brian Faison. Burial will follow in the Irby Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence 660 Sycamore Road, Gretna.
