Mary B. Jennings

Gretna…..Mary Bradner Jennings, 94 a resident of Autumn Care in Altavista, formerly a resident of Telegraph Road, Gretna passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011.
Born October 26, 1917 in Charlotte County, she was a daughter of the late John Bradner and Pearl Cobb Bradner of Charlotte Court House. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Jennings; one brother, Carr Bradner; and two sisters, Nan Hollins and Martha Frye. Mary was the owner and operator of Mary's Drive Inn in Chatham for twenty-five years. She was the oldest member of Midway Baptist Church. She loved flowers especially raising roses. Mary was a great cook and enjoyed her laughter filled life.
She is survived by three children; John Jennings (Eva), Sue Poe ( the late Eddie Poe whom she loved as a son), and Margie Rowland (R.G.); Her grandchildren, T.G. Meadows, Mike Meadows, Amy Pritchard, John P. Jennings, Corey Rowland, and Mandy Bennett; and 10 great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Midway Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Lynn Marstin and Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter, Sue Poe, 4973 Telegraph Road, Gretna.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Ruby Jennings Scholarship Fund % of Midway Baptist Church, 2136 Midway Road, Gretna, VA 24557 or to the Midway Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Greenfield Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box, 875 Gretna, VA 24557.
