Gretna……Mary Green Doss, age 83 of Gretna died Monday, May 15, 2023 at her residence.

Born November 29, 1939 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late William Jesse Green and Viola Simpson Green. Mrs. Doss was predeceased by her husband, Morris "M.G." Garolyn Doss; and three brothers, William David Green, Tommy Green and Jesse Green. Mrs. Green was a home maker; and she enjoyed reading books, especially the Bible. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing planting flowers and going to flea markets.

She is survived by six sons, Sammy Cox of Gretna, Darryl Cox and wife, Shellie of Gretna, Danny Cox of Altavista, Dennis Cox and wife, Julie of Washington, Lynnie Doss and wife, Carolyn of Evington, and John Thomas Doss of Raleigh, NC; four daughters, Wendy Short and husband, Ronnie of Gretna, Cindy Watson and husband, Steve of Hurt, Mary Brown and husband, Jim of Danville and Sylvia Dawson and husband, Lonnie of Gretna; one brother, John Green and wife, Eunice of Huddleston; one sister, Lizzie Mae Green of Hurt; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Gretna Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery by Lynnie Doss and Pastor Ronnie Simpson.
