Gretna……….Mary Easley Franklin, age 83 of Gretna died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at her residence.
Born December 21, 1934 in Roanoke, she was a daughter of the late George Lanier Easley, Sr. and Mary Martin Easley. She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar Morris Franklin, Jr. Mrs. Franklin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna and was a former teacher with the Pittsylvania County School System. She loved going to the beach and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed reading and singing.
She is survived by one son, Edgar Morris "Eddie" Franklin III and wife, Kristi of Lynch Station; two brothers, George Easley and wife, Joyce of Ripley, WV and James Easley and wife, Shelby of Concord; three sisters, Sandra Strange of Danville, Patricia Mosher of Arlington and Dorothy Van Auken and husband, Tyson of Richmond; and one grandchild, Liam Joseph Franklin of Lynch Station.
Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Brinton Easley and Sandra Strange.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
