Lynch Station……..Marjorie "Margie" Blankenship Dalton, age 79 of Lynch Station passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born August 9, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Amos Kelly Blankenship and Florence Dinkle Blankenship. She is predeceased by one brother, Michael Blankenship, and one sister, Algie Mayhew. Margie was a dedicated member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Hurt, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and worked with the Shut-In Ministry.

She graduated from Moneta High School and Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1963. She began her nursing career with Dr. Ralph C. Slusher, of Altavista. She later worked for Virginia Baptist Hospital where she helped to start the Outpatient Surgery Department. She previously volunteered at Staunton River Family Physicians, and retired from her nursing career in 2001 as an Occupational Health Nurse at BGF Industries, Altavista.

She is survived by her husband, Silas Dalton of the residence; two sons, Ron Dalton of Lynch Station, and Stuart Dalton and wife, Kathy of Altavista; one daughter, Julie Dollyhite and husband, Eddie of Evington; six grandchildren, Skylar Dalton, Steven Dollyhite, Cara Dalton, Luke Dollyhite, Spencer Dalton, and Sawyer Dalton; 3 brothers, Dennis Blankenship and wife, Madeline of Bedford, Bobby Blankenship of Bedford, and Lynwood Blankenship and wife, Alma of Bedford; two sisters, Shelby Robertson and husband, Barry of Bedford, and Sandra Falls and husband, Leslie of Bedford. She is also survived by special friends, Jordan and Joan Moorefield of Hurt.

A private graveside service will be conducted Friday, April 30, 2021 at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Brady Willis. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, May 15 ^th , at 3 PM at New Prospect Family Life Center.

The family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing for Margie will be held Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 12 Noon until 9 PM at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
