Marion (Mike) Allen

Chatham…..Marion (Mike) Shelton Allen, age 83 of 5084 Climax Road, Chatham died Saturday, November 19, 2011 at his residence.
Born October 1, 1928 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Harry Edward Allen and Ada Shelton Allen. He was predeceased by a step-son, Joel Pruitt, one brother, Edward (Dick) Allen, and one sister, Alice Floyd. He was a member of Museville Christian Church, a former employee of Dupont and was a farmer. Mr. Allen was a US Army veteran and a former member of the Young Farmers. He enjoyed working the land and cattle.
He is survived by his wife, Poppie Rigney Allen of the residence; two step-daughters, Linda Falls and husband, Jerry of Callands and Pauline Hedrick and husband, Junior of Chatham; one sister, Nancy Meadows and husband, Hunt of Chatham; a brother-in-law, Bob Floyd of FL; 5 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rusty Owens, Minister and Eric Pruitt, Minister.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
