Chatham...........Margaret Simpson Hodnett, age 82 of Chatham died Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born September 12, 1932 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Willie Simpson and Mae Dowdy Simpson. She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis C. Hodnett, Sr., twin infant daughters, Linda Faye Hodnett and Donna Kaye Hodnett; four brothers, Calvin Simpson, Sammy Simpson, Roger Meetze and Michael Tucker; and a sister, Jewel Cook. Mrs. Hodnett was a member of Sheva Church of Christ and retired from the Pittsylvania County School System after twenty years of service. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crafts, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Lewis C. Hodnett, Jr. and his wife, Wanda of Chatham; two daughters, Sharon Hodnett Hedrick and her husband, Anthony of Callands and Carolyn Hodnett Pickral and her husband, Randy of Chatham; one brother, Dean Simpson and his wife, Betty of Burlington, NC; one sister, Shelby Scott of Burlington, NC; three grandchildren, Rebecca Hodnett, Elizabeth Hedrick and Nicholas Hedrick; a very special niece and nephew, Susan Coble of Washington State and Thomas Coble and his wife, Kathy of Manhattan Beach, CA, and other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Sheva Church of Christ by Larry Owen, Minister, Ron Voss, Minister and Rev. Jonathan Hilliard. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
