Hurt……….Margaret Shelton Gibson, age 61 of Hurt died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at her residence.
Born April 19, 1954 in Altavista she was a daughter of Lorine Preas Shelton of Altavista and the late Clarence Watson Shelton. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the Altavista Church of Christ and was a graduate of Roanoke Bible College. She retired from Ross Laboratories and worked as a receptionist at the YMCA childhood center. She enjoyed reading, traveling, baking, cooking and fishing at the beach. Mrs. Gibson was a devoted mother and grandmother.
In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, Eddie Gibson of the residence; two sons, Derrick Gibson and his wife, Amanda of Hurt and Ryan Gibson and his wife, Sarah of Evington; two brothers, Calvin Shelton and his wife, Carolyn of Altavista and Fred Shelton of Altavista; two grandchildren, Claire Madison Gibson and Olivia LeAnn Gibson; and in-laws, Dink and Bonnie Gibson of Evington and C.L. McNeely and fiancée, Debbie Gibson.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Altavista Church of Christ by Lory Brafford, Minister and Larry Evans. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
