Nathalie……….Madeline Waller Clay, age 90 of Nathalie died Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab in Altavista.
Born December 26, 1926 in Halifax County, she was a daughter of the late Archie Jackson Waller and Mary Magdalene Reed Waller. She was predeceased by her husband, Swanson Roland Clay, Sr.; two daughters, Bobbie Jean Clay and Vernelle Clay Johns; three sisters, Mammie Waller, Eskoline DeJarnette, and Lily Maude Collins; and three brothers, Harvey Waller, Jeff Waller and Thomas Waller. Mrs. Clay was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and was a former employee of Dan River Mills. She loved her Lord and her dog, "Lucy." She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and visiting with people.
She is survived by two sons, Swanson Clay, Jr. and wife, Sarah of Roxboro, NC and Herbert Clay and wife, Peggy of Gretna; one daughter, Margie Seamster and husband, Jimmy of Chatham; one brother, Richard Waller of Farmville; three sisters, Shirley Blackwell of South Boston, Bernice Trent of Rustburg and Viola Dunkley of Long Island; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Mulberry Baptist Church by Rev. David Hanks and Rev. Alfred Rimmer. Burial will follow in the Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2017 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
