Penhook………Mabel Horsley Dalton, age 100 of Penhook died Friday, June 28, 2024 at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Born November 29, 1923 in Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Ola Arthur Horsley and John William Horsley.  She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Carl Booker Dalton; one son, Carl "Doug" Dalton; one granddaughter, Carla Dalton; one sister, Doris Tuck; and one brother, Howard Horsley.  Mrs. Dalton was a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church and the owner/operator of Carl's Place for over 77 years.  She loved her dogs and cats.  She also loved cooking, and baking cakes and pies.  Mrs. Dalton was known for her famous coconut cream pie.

She is survived by one daughter, Marie Ogden and husband, Wayne of Penhook;  two grandchildren, Dee Dalton and wife, Lindy and Donna Lovelace and husband, Mike; and three great-grandchildren, Brandon Lovelace, Cora Dalton and Finley Dalton.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Chapel Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Burial will follow in Liberty Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the residence and one hour prior to the funeral service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
