Penhook.........Luke Edwards Jefferson, age 82 of Penhook passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born November 17, 1942 on a farm in the Museville community of Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late John Luke Jefferson and Estelle Edwards Jefferson.  He was also predeceased by an infant daughter, Penny Lynette Jefferson.

He grew up loving baseball and pitched for the Callands High School team.  In addition to being an avid LA Dodgers fan, he also loved hunting, his farm, and his cows.  His renowned building career led him to help construct countless homes throughout multiple counties and he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand in the community when someone had something to build.  He was also a Building Inspector for Pittsylvania County for over 30 years where he dearly loved his profession.

Survivors include his wife, of 60 years, Rebecca Holley Jefferson; his son, Mark E. Jefferson (Lori) and daughter Stacey J. Hammock (Paul); his brother, Sammy Jefferson; his grandchildren, Kelsey J. Harmon (Michael), John Hammock (Sarah) and Noah Hammock; his great-granddaughters, Everleigh Hammock, Magnolia Hammock, Amelia Hammock and Natalie Harmon.  His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2025 at the Jefferson Family Cemetery by Elder Troy Simpson.

The family will receive friends at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Paul Hammock, 4536 Museville Road, Chatham, Virginia.
