Bedford………Lucy Cocke Simpson, age 86 of Bedford died Friday, February 25, 2022 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born January 30, 1936 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Peatross Gordon Cocke and Ruth Bryant Cocke.  She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace Dean Simpson; one son, Stan Simpson; two brothers, Delano Cocke, and Hoyt Cocke; and one sister, Carolyn Hines.  Mrs. Simpson was a home maker.  She loved reading and animals; and was dedicated to exercise and fitness.  It is a blessing that she is reunited with her best friend and husband, Wallace Dean Simpson.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Simpson of Huddleston and Lori Merritt and husband, Chris of Chester; two sons, Tony Simpson of Bedford and Jake Simpson and wife, Heather of Forest; one brother, Bill Cocke of Richmond; a sister-in-law, Ruby Slayton of South Boston; two granddaughters, Kristen Meli and husband, Joshua and Kelley Taylor and husband, Brandon; seven great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
