Gretna.........Lucille Shelton Goad, age 100 of Gretna died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born January 2, 1916 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Charlie Morgan Shelton and Sallie Plymale Shelton. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Lewis Goad; seven brothers, Robert Shelton, Harry Shelton, David Shelton, Howard Shelton, Willie Shelton, Roy Shelton and James Shelton, Sr.; three sisters, Bertha Short, Laura Parker and Hilda Hines; and a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Goad. Mrs. Goad was a member of Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed quilting, flowers and cooking for family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Elder Raymond Goad and wife, Ann of Gretna and Edward Goad of Gretna; two daughters, Mabel Hedrick, and husband, John of Gretna and Diane Scott and husband, William "Butch" of Altavista; eight grandchildren, Sandra Dalton, Pam Betterton, Kim Adams, Stephanie Dawson, Ed Goad, Jr., David Hedrick, Greta Selden and Megan Spofford; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Raymond Goad and Elder Marvin Brumfield. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Friday, April 1, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Mabel and John Hedrick, 2189 Brights Road, Gretna, VA 24557.
