Long Island…….Lucille Saunders Dawson of 2100 Moons Road, Long Island passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 91.
Born April 8, 1921 in Halifax County, she was a daughter of the late Extra White Saunders and Myrtle Hancock Saunders. Mrs. Dawson was a member of Edge Hill Baptist Church and was a home maker.
She is survived by her husband, Wicker E. Dawson of Rustburg; three sons, Riley E. Dawson and wife, Joyce of Gretna, Kenneth R. Dawson and wife Kay of Gladys, and Ronnie E. Dawson of Providence, NC; two daughters, Sharon D. Chappell and husband, Donnie of Mineral, and Anne D. Segovia and husband Moises of Grand Fork, MN; one sister, Christine S. Dunaway of Springfield; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Edge Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Billy Robertson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Dawson will be carried to Edge Hill Baptist Church Monday afternoon, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 24, 2012 at Edge Hill Baptist Church, and other times will be at the residence.
The family would like to thank neighbors, friends, and the employees of Autumn Care for their excellent care and kindness shown towards Mrs. Dawson.
