Gretna……...Loyd George "Buddy" Brumfield, age 80 of Gretna, died Saturday, April 12, 2025 at his residence.

Born October 17, 1944 in Campbell County he was son of the late Loyd Lee Brumfield and Jennie Ann Dalton Brumfield. He was predeceased by one brother, Jerry Brumfield. Mr. Brumfield was a farmer and attended Greenfield Baptist Church. Buddy was known far and wide for his knowledge and work with horses and mules. He was a one-of-a-kind man with a kind heart that was shown to many over the years, including his mother, whom he was the caregiver for the last 12 years of her life. He was also known to many as Papa, including Hunter, Dylan and Walker Cline.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances Moschler Brumfield of the residence; two sons, Kenneth Brumfield and wife, Carolyn of Gretna and Clarence Brumfield of Gretna; three sisters, Joann Brumfield of Ringgold, Ethel Dalton of Pittsville and Linda Shelton of Pittsville; two nephews, whom he thought of as sons, Bobby Cline and wife, Stormy of Gretna and Glen Lokey and wife, Kim of Gretna; four grandchildren, Jarrett Brumfield and wife, Liz, Tonya Heath and husband, Jonah, Cody Brumfield and Whitney Brumfield; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow at Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
