Danville………Lowell David Rowland, age 83 of Danville died Friday, May 9, 2025 at his home after being in declining health for two and ½ years.

Born April 20, 1942 in Gretna, VA, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary Rowland. He was predeceased by his sister, Iris R. Jarbeau and three brothers, Elwood Rowland, Randel Rowland, and Birchie Rowland. Mr. Rowland was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and retired from Blackwell Motor Company. He served in the church as a Deacon, sung in the choir and was in the Deacon Quartet. Mr. Rowland was a graduate of Gretna High School and Nashville Auto Diesel College.  He enjoyed spending time on his farm and going to the coast to fish. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, Washington Redskins, and NASCAR racing.

He is survived by his wife, Melba C. Rowland; two daughters, Sonya Rowland of Stokesdale, NC and Donna R. Hutcherson and husband, Tim of Danville, VA; and one granddaughter, Holly Hutcherson.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, Danville, VA by Rev. David Duncan and Rev. Lynn Marstin.  Burial will follow in Gretna, VA at Gretna Burial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Woodlawn Baptist Church.
