Obituary

Hurt…….Louise Scruggs Nichols, age 100 of Hurt died Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born December 5, 1919 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Robert E. Scruggs and Clara Yeatts Scruggs.  She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis Lee Nichols who died on October 27, 2010; two brothers, Wade Scruggs and R.E. Scruggs; and five sisters, Gladys Rawlings, Cordie Watlington, Maude Power, Pauline Crawley, and Lacy Dalton.  Mrs. Nichols was a member of Hurt United Methodist Church where she was member of the choir.  She was a home maker and enjoyed cooking, especially cooking pinto beans for her husband.

She is survived by one daughter, Libby Thacker and husband, Eddie of Hurt; one granddaughter, Melissa Hagood and husband, Mark of Hurt; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas Hagood of Redmond, WA, Montana Hagood and wife, Kailey of Hurt, Lance Hagood of Hurt, and Katherine Hagood of Hurt; and one great-great-granddaughter, Everleigh Hagood.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Gretna Burial Park by Rev. R.G. Rowland.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her granddaughter, Melissa and Mark Hagood, 3365 Pocket Road, Hurt, VA.
