Java…..Louise Edna Dalton Betterton, age 88 of 1541 McDaniel Road, Java died Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born January 1, 1926 she was a daughter of the late Whitt Dalton and Maude Zeffie Talbott Dalton. She was predeceased by her husband, Rufus Betterton, Sr.; three sons, Jessie Betterton, Ryland Betterton, and Riley Betterton; and one daughter, Betty May Betterton. Mrs. Betterton was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Java and was a home maker. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, canning, and loved raising chickens.
She is survived by five sons, Rufus Betterton, Jr. and his wife, Lois of Gretna, Lonnie Betterton of Chatham, Danny Betterton and his wife, Carolyn of Gretna, Jerry Betterton and his wife, Robin of Gretna, and Michael Betterton of Java; two daughters, Eloise Joines of Gretna, and Ruth Gregory and her husband, David of Java; one brother, Bennie Dalton of Martinsville; one sister, Katherine Jones of Gretna; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and five great-great- grandchildren; and a special care giver, Betty George.
Funeral services will be conducted 4:30 P.M. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Edward Pope. Burial will follow at Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3:30 to 4:30 P.M. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
